Day 59: Three Springs to Perth

Thursday 1st September 2022

We had an uneventful morning, packing up camp while the kids played in the playground. Then we hit the road for Perth! We couldn’t resist stopping in to see New Norcia, a monastic town with incredible buildings! It would be interesting to do a guided tour of the town, which I think allows you to see inside the buildings as well. Another time! 😁

Aside from a quick stop at a roadside citrus stall (where we learnt that the first stall is definitely not the best deal!), that was our only break – we were pretty keen to get to Perth. We pulled into Sheila’s amazing house around 3:30. It’s been 9 years since we were last here, I think I had forgotten just how extraordinary the house is!! Soph was working from home and was able to greet us, before diving back to work, with a deadline to contend with! Sheila brought the kids back from school and we were able to watch the gorgeous reunion between the kids, especially Bonnie and Jack. Bonnie had really missed Jack since they moved to Perth!

Soph finished and submitted her report, Tim joined us and we spent the rest of the evening catching up over sparkling, red wine, cognac and one of Soph’s famous roast dinners!

The glorious Freemantle castle!
A pile on seems the best way to manage those feelings of not seeing someone since last year!

The very grand front room!
