Today was scheduled as leaving day, but given the forecast for heavy rain and storms we decided to push it out a day. There was rain all night, followed with a rainy morning, so we enjoyed hanging about for yet another day of doing very little! Richie watched the tennis for the morning, then headed into the shops to stock up for the next few days. The kids were a little trickier then usual – no doubt from a lack of sleep and complete over-stimulation the last few days! Being outside helped a lot and we spent a bit of time on the front lawn kicking balls about.
Richie came back for a late lunch, then took all the kids to the playgroup while I stayed back and tried to work out the next step. Unfortunately the rain forecast has set in for the next couple of days – though I was able to sit in glorious sunshine with my maps and phone while working this out. Our plan had been to do a couple of days north somewhere, then head to Kalgoorlie. I think after doing a few days inland before Perth it seemed a better idea to head south to the coast – especially after both Neil and Tim’s mum raved about the Esperance area! After a number of phone calls across several towns I finally managed to secure a cabin for the night in a totally random town, Pingrup. If the forecast holds true there will be a bit more rain than we will want to deal with. I’m hoping things might clear after that for some coast camping, but fingers crossed for the best!🤞
With the next night finally planned, I cooked dinner then went for a walk – gorgeous along the river this evening. We had another Mexican inspired dinner, mostly because we had a lot of avocados to use, then the kids watched a movie while we enjoyed drinks by the fireplace. We are feeling very comfortable here and I already feel sad to be leaving. It’s also made me realise how much we miss Soph and Tim in our lives, it has felt so comfortable to be back with them for a few days. The thought of heading into rainy camping is also not so appealing right now!
