Heading homewards! We slept in till 8:30 in our dark cabin, then visited the playground and a cafe for a coffee, so we were again leaving after 10. We had a 5 1/2 hour drive to get to Canberra, so we could see friends before getting home.
There has been so much rain in the area, and there is so much water around! It’s amazing to see the rivers flowing this much, and the trees all sitting in water! It will be really interesting to drive through again in December and see how it looks after so much water.
Once again we were focussed on getting to our destination – the kids were so excited to get to Canberra and see Farley and Nyah, they couldn’t bear the idea of having to wait! We had a few stops for fuel and toilet breaks, and arrived in Ainslie just before five.
It was so exciting to see Rob, Tonya, Farley and Nyah, it has felt like such a long time! The kids have an amazing new cubby house, so they were all playing outside till well after dark! The adults stayed inside and caught up on the last few months. Rob is suffering horribly from long covid, which is quite frightening to hear about. Tonya had been on a work trip, driving to Broome over seven days – unfortunately we were past Broome by that point!
The kids watched a movie and we all stayed up late chatting – a lovely way to spend our last night away!
