Day 81: Canberra to home!

Saturday 24th September 2022

Going home today! Such a strange feeling after three months away. I feel very sad that the trip is over, but also excited to see our house and garden again. The kids feel a bit the same way, and also worried about going back to preschool/school again. Luckily they have two weeks to get used to the idea!

We hung out at Rob and Tonya’s till 10, then let them be as they were preparing to go on their own holiday! We headed to the EPIC farmers markets – the main thing I really miss about Canberra (after our amazing friends of course!). The kids were very excited to get their favourite dumplings for breakfast, and we bought some fresh food and coffee to take home. Then it was time to head home!

We were welcomed back by the daffodils in our front garden! We had a coffee on the veranda, something we have both missed on the trip! We started the dreaded job of unpacking the car when a storm hit – wet as ever here! This was followed by a stunning double rainbow, which was a pretty amazing welcome!

The afternoon/evening has been more unpacking, washing, a huge, fresh garden salad for dinner (another thing we have missed), and a movie in bed for the kids.

81 days, 17,500 km – what an experience! We are so fortunate to be able to see and experience so many amazing places, getting to spend time with friends and family along the way. I would happily do it all again in a heartbeat! Now time to re-adjust back into real life! ♥️

So excited about dumplings!
Home, sweet home!
We made it ♥️
Straight back into things!
